Our story

An image of Nathan. The owner of Two Islands Web Designs

My name is Nathan, I have worked as a web developer for various companies for over five years. I decided to set up Two Islands Web Designs when I realised small businesses do not have the time or money to create websites that rank well on Google which create new business opportunities. Our unique pay monthly pricing model means you can get the quality of a custom designed and built website without the massive up front costs. If you think we can help you get in touch.

How Does It Work

  1. 1. Discussion

We start with an initial no obligation conversation where we will give you an estimated price and delivery date.

  2. 2. Initial consultation

We will arrange a video call via Zoom or Google meet where will learn as much as possible about your business and target customers.

  3. 3. Design

Once we are happy we know enough about your business and requirements we will start the design phase.

When the designs are finished, we will share them with you allowing you can make revisions. We allow you to make as many revisions necessary.

  4. 4. Development

Once you are happy with the designs we will start development. Throughout the development process we will give you access to a development site where you can see the progress being made.

  5. 5. Testing & Feedback

Once development is finished and you are happy, we will deploy it to the internet.

  6. 6. Support

With our pay monthly package we handle hosting and will manage any ongoing issues and maintaining required.

Basic SEO Included

Other than word of mouth, your website ranking on Google is the most important factor when it comes to bringing in new business. When a customer Searches for "Plumber near me" or "Dog walker in {{town}}" you want your business to appear right at the top of the list.

The work done to make your website appear high up in Googles search rankings is called search engine optimisation (SEO). Large businesses often pay thousands of pounds per month SEO services.

Most small businesses don't have the time or the money to invest in such services. However that doesn't mean your site will not rank highly on Google. With knowledge in SEO, we can ensure your site ranks as high as possible. Below is our very basic guide on how your site can rank highly on Google.

Before we start its important for us to understand what (despite what conspiracy theorists may say) Google search is for. Google simply wants to satisfy their users search queries with the most relevant content. Thats it. With this in mind, the following ranking factors become quite obvious.

  1. Content quality

This is one of the most important ranking factors. Luckily, this is the one factor that we have most control over. This means relevant, good quality content that is engaging to users. This is why our initial consultation is so important.

  2. Backlinks

Without getting too technical, backlinks are simply links that link to your website from another website. If a highly reputable website has a link to your website, Google will interpret it as a sort of nod that the content on your website is not spam. This will help rank your website rank higher.

Unfortunately for small business websites, getting good quality backlinks is very challenging (hence the thousands per month that some companies will pay for SEO).

  3. Website Quality

Website quality can be broken into three parts. Mobile friendliness, page speed and accessibility. This is where we come in, as we will not use page builders or templates we will ensure that your website looks great on mobile, is fast/responsive and accessible to the disabled.

Hosting

We believe that as a small business you should be spending time doing what you do best. That is managing your business. Not pulling your hair out trying to understand what a CNAME is, or why last month your website was working and this month its not. Our pay monthly plans include full 24/7 support and hosting.

Mobile optimisation & Accessibility

60 percent of all internet traffic is via a mobile phone. Much of that traffic will be through a slow 4g connection. It is therefore very important that your website not only looks great but performs well on slow mobile devices. This is where we excel vs a page builder. Our website will be significantly faster than a site made with Wix or Squarespace.
